Much of Wellfleet’s history is just a few steps away. Our schedule includes twice-weekly guided tours of the historic district, Bound Brook Island hikes and bi-weekly cemetery tours. .
Most of the walks occur in the summer months, but many of our guides are here year-round. If you have a group that would like to schedule a private tour, please contact us.
HISTORIC DISTRICT WALKING TOURS
One of the best ways to see Wellfleet is to walk the village with a local Historian. The Wellfleet Historical Society & Museum hosts guided walking tours every Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9:30 AM during the summer months.
Step back in time, as each tour provides an overview of the town’s history, simple identification of architecture, and anecdotal accounts of long ago characters. Stand before historical buildings, pass by beautiful landmarks, such as Uncle Tim’s Bridge, and walk down charming lanes you may have thought were driveways.

Wellfleet is proud to sponsor an annual House & Garden Tour. Each year we show a variety of architectural styles including Antique, Traditional and Modern. House Tours are considered one of the most popular fundraisers across America and it’s easy to see why: it’s a win-win situation for everyone. When you buy a ticket to our House Tour, you’re getting a wonderful day of entertainment at the same time you’re providing much needed support and revenue to our museum.
The 2018 tour will be held on Sunday, July 29th from 11AM-4PM. Tickets at a cost of $35.00 will be available at the Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce, Newcomb Hollow Shop, Abiyoyo, Wellfleet Historical Museum and thru on-line purchase. Tickets include a description and sketch of each house.
