Artist Justin Perlman is a sculptor and teacher at the Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan, CT, where he conducts bronze casting, metal working, and mixed media sculpture classes. Justin will lead a discussion of the materials and techniques of bronze casting. The discussion will walk the audience through the modern process of bronze casting from the creation of an original sculpture through to the final patina. He will also discuss how techniques have changed over the mediums’ long history, and the challenges of continuing this classical medium in contemporary studio practice.
The lecture is offered in conjunction with the Cape Cod Open Sculpture Invitational (CCOSI) – INSIDE, on view August 14 – November 16, 2024. In this open indoor juried exhibition, small and medium sculptures on any theme and in any medium will be on display in collaboration with the New England Sculptors Association (NESA).
