Humor – one of our greatest survival tools! With so much power to heal and renew, it’s life’s reset button for all walks of our lives. And it’s fun, free, and easy to use! Through enjoyable activities, video examples, some writings on humor, sharing life experiences and lots of other lively discussions, we’ll dig into what makes us laugh (or doesn’t!) and why. And, along the way, some of humor’s remarkable contributions to improving well-being and perspective-gaining.
Nina Greenwald, Ph.D.
Nina is an educational psychologist, former faculty and Director, The Graduate Program of Critical and Creative Thinking, University of Massachusetts Boston. Specializations include creative thinking and creative problem solving, critical thinking, invention, humor and thinking, problem-based learning, teaching to the multiple intelligences, and educating gifted students. Published author, trainer/consultant, and keynote speaker, Nina has developed critical and creative thinking curricula for The National Institute of Health, American Medical Association, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania Societies for Biomedical Research, New England Aquarium, NOVA, and co-authored “Swimming Against the Tide in Fostering Creativity in Children(2003). Her book, Science in Progress, consists of interviews with leading biomedical scientists working on solutions to complex problems along with a model for guiding students in grappling with aspects of these through problem-based learning. Nina is elected to the Danforth Associates of New England, an organization of selected higher education faculty distinguished for excellence in teaching. She lives in Barnstable Village.
