Days: Thursdays (6 weeks). Class begins August 8, from 1pm-4pm
Cost: $110 Members | $140 Non-Members

Rather than using Drawing as a means to enhance painting or printmaking or sculpture, why not take whatever skills you have, and bring them with you to the drawing table?

Drawing is seen as an independent entity and an end in itself. We will explore varied drawing media and combining media is encouraged. We will use referential sources such as photography and/or direct observation. Explore your own unique mark-making in the context of modern and traditional techniques in drawing. Direct spontaneous drawings with brush or any other mark making tool is encouraged. A finished drawing can be made in a moment or a lifetime. The linear, continuous tone, depth or textural and surface qualities within any drawing revolves around an aesthetic appreciation that can also evoke emotion and imagination. Therefore, while you will learn basic drawing skills, you will also take your DRAWINGS BEYOND.

*First session bring your cell phone, a photo and an object from nature such as stone, twig, flower, etc. If you have a project in mind or special interest, bring that too. We will work with any existing materials you may already have such as brushes, ink, paints of any kind as long as it is one color. Papers and surfaces are used appropriate to the media you bring.

We will look at materials and papers and you will have an opportunity to explore varied media you may not be acquainted with. Before buying anything, use what you have until you have had an opportunity to experiment in class.
