“Alleviating Quiet is a visual challenge to stillness. The intricacies of contrasting pattern and color on these large coil-built vessels present a visual clamor; voices as juxtaposing shapes on clay. My continual pursuit to develop ornate and complex surfaces on the clay form works alongside an inclination to express identity through an abstract language of pattern and color, receding and advancing. Decoration is created using resists, layers of applied color, and etched surfaces. Ornamentation becomes foundation.”  – Adero Willard
