Graffiti has existed since ancient times from cave paintings to more elaborate wall art. Modern-day Graffiti or “Street Art” started out as a rebellious way for young people to express themselves on city subways and walls. It has now become more of an accepted art form. To some, it is seen as a form of public art and can be thought of as urban art. There is still a lot of controversy about the acceptance of graffiti. In this class, we will learn a little about the history of graffiti and explore some contemporary graffiti artists. We will then think of a word, design it in our own way on paper, and then transfer it onto clay. The finished product will be a sculpted and painted piece of 3D graffiti artwork.
