The Festival of Museums is just that – a FREE one-day celebration of Cape Cod’s museums and galleries with events throughout the day.
Museums and galleries from all around Cape Cod are offering a fun packed day of surprising and exciting events and activities aimed at igniting your imagination. So, whether you’re a mom or dad looking for something to do with the kids, a group of friends looking for a new experience or an art or history enthusiast, come along and join in the fun!

Join us for a conversation on theft with Anthony Amoré

Anthony is the director of security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum where he also serves as the chief investigator into the infamous 1990 heist of 13 priceless works of art–the biggest property theft in history. He previously served as an assistant director with the Transportation Security Administration and as a Special Agent with the Federal Aviation Administration. He is the author of Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Stories of Notorious Art Heists. His most recent book, The Art of the Con, is a New York Times Crime Best Seller.

Children and Adults are encouraged to put their S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) skills to the test by creating projects from randomly selected LEGO challenge cards. Have fun while sharpening your creative and innovative thinking! Plus, fun prizes will be given to challenge winners. Great events for parents and kids!

Join Chris Macort for an intriguing and insightful presentation about what it’s been like diving on the wreck of the Whydah Pirate ship along with untold stories that most people have never heard of. Chris is the senior archaeologist and Director of Exhibits at the new Whydah Pirate Museum in South Yarmouth, as well as the Whydah Museum in Provincetown. He has been working for Barry Clifford on the Whydah Project for over twenty years as an Underwater Field Archaeologist and Artifact Conservator. Chris has worked with the History Channel, National Geographic Television and Magazine, the BBC, NPR, CNN and the Discovery Channel as they documented expeditions to Las Aves Venezuela, Saint Marie Madagascar, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Cape Cod.

John Higby is the Yo-Yo Guy! He has performed his unique high-energy comedy yo-yo show in 26 countries from New Zealand to Japan, holds the world yo-yo champion title and 4 Guinness World Records. He has been featured on David Letterman, Discovery Channel’s Time Warp, Comedy Central, The Guinness World Record Show, Fetch with Ruff Ruffman on PBS, and even has his own Topps trading card! ESPN magazine coined him “Unsung Hero” of 2008. The Yo-Yo Guy is an interactive performance with yo-yos, unicycle, and a giant yo-yo that John walks on! Specializing in family shows, this show is great for all ages!
We have partnered with the HYCC to bring to you the Festival of Museums Coloring Contest. Children will have a chance to win a prize and display their art at the Festival! The contest is open from now until April 30th. We will be choosing two winners, one under the age of 5 and one between the ages of 6-10 and announcing the winner the day of the festival. We will be displaying the other pieces of art along the HYCC walls. You can visit the HYCC to pick up a copy or or click here to print now.
