The Atwood House and Museum in Chatham will be vibrant with a series of holiday events throughout December.
Here are some highlights for your planning.

 

GRUB WITH THE GRINCH

“Grub with the Grinch” offers fun for all ages and breakfast treats, Who-pudding and beasts, and entertainment with our very own grouchy, greedy, green Grinch. The event takes place Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9 – 11 a.m. Entrance fee is $15 for adults; $10 for children. Due to limited seating, advance reservations and payment are strongly recommended. For reservations, email atwoodmuseumevents@gmail.com with your name, date of event, number of adults and children, and we will reply with an email confirmation.

 SANTA’S WORKSHOP AND SANTA

 Join us to enjoy, holiday music and a woodcarving demonstration to experience how toys were made in the olden days! Also, have your picture taken with Santa and the Atwood House Elf on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 1 – 4 p.m. Bring in items for the Food Pantry. Admission is free!

STUFF THE SLEIGH

See the Atwood House & Museum’s latest acquisition, the beautifully restored sleigh from the Levi Atwood Store, and help Chatham’s less fortunate – bring hats, glove, mittens and scarves to Stuff the Sleigh. The Chatham Angel Fund will distribute them to those in need. The museum will be open 9 – 11 a.m.  and  1 – 4 p.m.Saturday, Dec. 9, and Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1 – 4 p.m. Dec. 12 – 23.

AUTHORS HOLIDAY BOOK SIGNING 

Meet some of our talented local authors, purchase and get signatures of their recent books, and learn more about their work, at the Atwood House & Museum on Friday, Dec. 15, from 5 – 7 p.m. Featured authors will be Anne LeClaire (The Halo Effect and Listening Below the Noise), John Whelan and Kim Rodriques (I Am of Cape Cod); Deborah Swiss (The Tin Ticket); Debra Lawless (Provincetown Since World War II: Carnival at Land’s End); Capt. Bob Ryder (Voyages from Chatham); and Janet Daly (Chatham Through Time).

Harp music will be played by Priscilla Smith and free gift wrapping will be provided. Those attending may enjoy wine, other beverages and light refreshments. Items for the Food Pantry will be accepted, as will hats, scarves gloves and mittens to Stuff the Sleigh to help those in need. JOSEPH C. LINCOLN’S “CHRISTMAS DAY’S”: A READING IN THREE ACTS

Celebrate winter with Scott Hamilton, local actor extraordinaire, as he reads holiday selections written by Chatham’s national best-selling early 20th century author, Joseph C. Lincoln on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 4 – 6 p.m.  Lincoln’s stories used local characters and lore of friends and neighbors to entertain readers around the country for 40 years. Refreshments will include wine and hors d’oeuvres and the Gift Shop will be open. Tickets are $20. Due to limited space, advance reservations and payment are strongly recommended. MEMBER HOLIDAY SALE IN THE MUSEUM GIFT SHOP 

As we wrap up our 2017 season, join us on Saturday, Dec. 23, from 1 – 4 p.m., for a 25 percent off sale on all items (excluding sale items) for members. Non members qualify for 10 percent off.  Do your last minute shopping at the Atwood House & Museum, where proceeds help support Museum programs.  This will be the last day of exhibits for the year.
